Saturday 15th February – V Day+1 Tasty Argentinians!

How do we follow an amazing fizzy Valentine’s Friday? By seducing you with our new Latin lover.

We’ve a new premium Argentinian Malbec on the shelf, from the Uco Valley which lies to the west of Mendoza. It’s high altitude provides grapes with good acidity and structure. So while this wine is rich and full-flavoured, it is also very balanced and – dare we say – rather handsome.

The man behind it, Marcelo Pelleriti, is head winemaker for Bodega Monteviejo and also spends time at its sister wineries in Bordeaux – Château Le Gay and Château La Violette in Pomerol. This Malbec is his own personal project.

We thought this would also be a good opportunity to open our easy-drinking Argentinian white, which flew out of the door when we had it on taste last Autumn.

Marcelo Pelleriti Reserve Malbec 2008 (Argentina £16.75)
An enticing combination of power, balance and grace. Ripe blueberries & blackcurrants in abundance, with flecks of bitter chocolate.

El Supremo Torrontes 2012 (Argentina £9.50)
We love the yin-yang aspect of this wine. Aromas of honeysuckle, but with a dry, grassy palate and light spicy finish. Try with coronation chicken or Waldorf salad.

The tasting runs from 2-6pm on Saturday. And it’s free!
