What We're Drinking: Friday 29th + Saturday 30th November

Winemaker Miguel Angel Gregorio’s ambition is to make the perfect Rioja. Many would say he’s already done pretty well with the wines he’s been making in Briones since the late 1990s. And not just the reds.

His white Rioja is a particular favourite of some of the Park + Bridge team. We were introduced to it by a customer, and we’re now as passionate about it as she is. We’ve just changed vintage to the 2010, and have decided to add the 2007 red Rioja to our list as well. It makes a great modern contrast to our popular, aged, traditional Decenio 2002 Rioja.WWAD 29-11-13 medium

Want to know what they taste like? Well come and try them this weekend!

Allende Rioja Blanco 2010 (Spain £19.95)
Made primarily from Viura, this wine is barrel-fermented, then aged in new barriques for 14 months, there is plenty of toast & spice with the elegant fruit. Don’t serve it too chilled. We decant ours to let the wine open up a little.

Allende Rioja Tinto 2007 (Spain £21.00)
A contemporary style of Rioja that’s becoming a bit of a classic. Dense black fruits interlaced with cedar and tobacco notes, with spicy notes from, like the blanco, 14 months in new French barriques.

You can taste these wines for from 6-8pm on Friday and 2-6pm on Saturday. As ever, it’s completely free and there’s no obligation to buy anything.
