What We’re Drinking: Saturday 12th April

This month, we’re supporting an initiative called Real Wine Month, highlighting organic, biodynamic and natural wines made by artisan growers and producers.

Our Friday and Saturday tastings up until Easter will all centre around these “real” wines.

As we’re doing a special Fizzy Friday on the 11th, here’s what we’ve lined up for Saturday.

Cos Rami 2012 (Italy £18.00)
One of our favourite orange wines, so called because the grape skins (in this case Inzolia and Grecanico)  are used during part of the fermentation, giving the wine a darker colour and light tannins.  Citrus, nutty and herbal with a salty finish, this works well with those tasty but challenging Sicilian food matches, such as anchovies and capers.

Albert Mann Riesling Tradition 2012 (France £15.50)
Clean, citrusy, off-dry Riesling, lifted by lip-smacking acidity. Thai food was made for this.

De Martino Cinsault Viejas Tinajas 2013 (Chile £14.50)
Made in 100-year-old amphora with grapes from an old vineyard, using natural yeasts &andminimal sulphur, this is a lively, easy-drinking wine reminiscent of cherries and berries. Try lightly chilled.

Estezargues VDP du Gard Galets Rouge 2012 (France £9.50)
A blend of Grenache, Syrah & Carignan, this wine hails from a Southern Rhone co-op sourcing organic and biodynamic grapes. Natural yeast, unfined and unfiltered. Just good plump fruit, licorice and spice.

Wines are open for tasting from 2-6pm on Saturday, and there is absolutely no obligation to buy.

However, we are running a special 10 for 10 offer during the month.

Spend £10 or more on a bottle of  selected “real” wine (marked with a gold star) and we’ll give you 10% off your next bottle, whatever you choose – so long as it’s wine. And bought as part of the same purchase.
