What We're Drinking: Super Sparkling Saturday 14th December

WWAD 14-12-13Christmas needs fizz. That’s the law. In our shop, anyway.

So we are opening seven, yes SEVEN, bottles of brilliant bubbles this Saturday for you to try – including Nyetimber 2009 – a new vintage to the shop – and a grower Champagne that we’ve just listed.

Bereche et Fils Brut Reserve NV (France £36.00)
A crisp, clean, light-copper coloured grower Champagne. Fresh red berries, lemons & a hint of orange zest. A bit of flesh balanced by a vigorous finish.

Nyetimber Classic Cuvee (England £29.99 75cl)
Rounded and vibrant, this is possibly England’s premier sparkling wine. Just don’t upset the French and call it Champagne! We also have a few magnums of the amazingly rich and creamy 2005 for £69.99.

Bolney Estate Rose (England £27.50)
A great example of how fabulous English sparkling wine can be. Fragrant red summer fruits & a crisp, elegant finish. 100% Pinot Noir.

Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco Brut NV (Italy £15.50 75cl – also in magnums)
A very stylish Prosecco grown on the best slopes in Valdobbiadene. Crisp, clean, lightly floral and fruity, with a lick of creaminess and a delightful mousse.

Saniger Cava NV (Spain £14.00)
A creamy Cava that will make you think again about Spanish sparkling wine. Golden Delicious apples, lemon peel and straw. Clean, refreshing finish.

Nino Franco Faive Sparkling Rose 2011 (Italy £17.50)
Mainly Merlot, with a dollop of Cabernet Franc, this off-dry fizz is debonair and deliciously different.

Bolney Estate Cuvee Noir (England £24.00)
Bursting with raspberries and cranberries but with a dry, citrussy finish, this makes a delicious pairing with ham and other cured meats, including chorizo. It’s our top Boxing Day pick.

We’ll be opening the fizz from 2-6pm. It won’t cost you a thing to come and try them.
