This Saturday we’re welcoming the Thorman Hunt team, who supply us with some shop favourites such as La Forge Chiroubles, La Bastide Syrah and Chateau de la Presle sparkling Touraine rosé.
On Saturday they’ll be opening six wines, three which of are new on the Park+Bridge shelf.
Fratelli Berlucchi Brut 2008 (Italy £23.00)
One of Italy’s OTHER sparkling wines, this Franciacorta makes a super alternative to Champagne. Same grapes, same method. Rich, creamy and dry.
Domaine La Bastide Viognier 2012 (France £11.50)
A fleshy, lively, lightly aromatic wine with notes of fresh apricots and lemons. A good match for oriental dishes (but tasty on its own, too).
Vincent Paris Granit Blanc 2011 (France £16.75)
Only 3000 bottles of this are produced by this brilliant Cornas producer (in our opinion). A blend of Viognier & Roussanne, this is rich and spicy with an apricot blossom backnote.
Chateau Noaillac Medoc 2009 (France £16.00)
A cracking Bordeaux for the price. Lots of cassis and cedar flavours. Enjoyable now, and best if decanted for an hour or so.
Domaine H & G Buisson, St. Romain Sous La Roche 2009 (France £23.75)
From a commune on the edges of the Côte de Beaune. A classic, lighter-style Burgundy with silky red fruits & earthy forest floor undertones. Organic.
Faury St. Joseph Vielles Vines La Gloriette 2010 (France £26.00)
Depth, fragrance and a proper grind of black pepper. Everything you want in a good Northern Rhone Syrah. And this is good. Very good.
If you’re looking for inspiration about wines to serve this Christmas, come along and try some of these. All of them will be open from 2pm on Saturday November 23rd until 6pm (or whenever we run out).
