Whatever the weather this Bank Holiday – cloud, rain or sun – we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re planning an outdoor BBQ, an indoor feast, or just relaxing over the long weekend, we’ve picked out a couple of great wines for you to enjoy.
The first is our latest arrival – a Viognier from the same producers as our very popular Languedoc Syrah. The other we opened a few months ago (yes, we can say that now!), but we’ve seen so many new faces since then, we thought we’d give it another whirl. It’s also fabulous with chargrilled meat and veggie burgers…

Domaine La Bastide Viognier 2012 (France £11.50)
Viognier is a difficult grape to grow. And too often, it is made into an off-putting ripe and oily wine. But we’ve found one that feels fresh and lively. Lightly aromatic with notes of crunchy apricots and lemons, its fuller body is balanced with good acidity. If you find off-dry Riesling and Gewürztraminer a bit much with Thai and Chinese food, try this.
De Martino Legado Carmenere 2011 (Chile £11.50)
An organic wine from the Maipo Valley in Chile, with aromas of cassis and damsons and flavours of mouthwatering red fruits – plus some dried herbs on the finish. This smooth, satin-textured latin charmer has some body, but isn’t overwhelming.
Bottles will be open from 6-8pm on Friday and from 2-6pm on Saturday.
Also don’t forget to take advantage of our 10 for 10 offer, where if you spend £10+ on a bottle of wine then you get 10% off a second, as it will finish at the end of this month.
